Ceud Mile Fàilte!

Welcome to Celtic Dreams, the gift and jewelry site dedicated to bringing you the best Celtic designs, both modern and traditional.

The Celts have left a distinctive artistic heritage which is alive and well in the Gaelic parts of Britain, the "Celtic Fringe" of Europe. Here in Scotland, Ireland, Cornwall, Wales and the Isle of Man, this artistic heritage is being developed and extended today, bringing contemporary interpretations to traditional designs, but also creating new and exciting pieces. Take for example our Charred Silver collection.

Of course this process is nothing new; it has been going on for a while! It is no surprise that many of the leading designers in the Art Nouveau and Arts & Crafts movements were from the "Celtic Fringe". Charles Rennie Mackintosh, The Glasgow Girls ( Scotland ) and Archibold Knox ( Isle of Man) spring to mind. The complex & intertwined knot work of Celtic design, often based on natural subjects, is not that far removed from the flowing lines and intricate design of the Art Nouveau period, also often based on natural forms.

The Celtic culture that produced such distinctive art is worth preserving and studying too. So here at Celtic Dreams you will get a flavor of the legends, language, history and culture of the Celtic Peoples of the British Isles. It is sobering to remember the tales of heroes such as Fingal ( Fionn MacCumhail), Cuchulainn ( "The Hound of Ulster") and the Children of Lir , contained in the "Ulster Cycle" and "Scottish Cycle" are the earliest European folk-lore stories yet surviving, dating from over two and a half thousand years ago and are the last remaining echoes of the story telling bardic tradition of the original Europeans, the Celts, who at one time were powerful enough to defeat Rome, occupy and sack it for a year.

As Giàidheals ourselves, we at Celtic Dreams are intensely proud of our heritage. We hope you enjoy it too.
